Giving back to the Sport

Public speaking and presentations:

• Welcoming address to VIP’s, including the Premier of BC and international sport delegates, at the 2005 Snowboard World Championships in Whistler.
• Presented a request for an increase in sport funding to the Minister of Sport in April 2004, which resulted in an increase of nearly $7 million in direct funding to 1400 carded national team athletes.
• Spoke on behalf of sport to the House of Commons Finance Committee in November 2003.
• Presented Canadian Snowboard Federation funding request to stakeholders, including Sport Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee in June 2005, resulting in $1.5 million in additional funding to snowboarding.

Volunteer:

• Voted to Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) Athlete’s Council at 2006 Games
• Seeing eye guide; Paralympics – Athens 2004 and various events since then
• Athlete’s CAN: Treasurer 2002 – 2004
• FIS Athlete Representative 2003 – 2005
• National Team Athlete Representative 2001 – 2004

• Passed level 3 exam of Chartered Financial Analyst Program, June 2006
• Chartered Accountant (1998)
• Bachelor of Commerce, UBC, 1994

Other:

• 2004 – 2005: Wrote a weekly column for an Edmonton newspaper about snowboarding on the World Cup circuit.
